Nevertheless, Iomega has no intention of neglecting its offering for private users: In addition to the presentation of the Iomega EZ Media & Backup Center – a high-capacity, reliable and DLNA-certified storage solution for any home network – Iomega provides an outlook to other innovations in the making for 2012. Iomega® EZ Media & Backup Center

EZ Media

One of the exhibits at CeBIT which will also be shown for the first time in Germany is the Iomega EZ Media & Backup Center. This single drive network storage solution offers exceptional performance, easy menus and setup as well as many more functions such as a private personal cloud and, with Iomega Link, an app for remote access and media streaming. It therefore ensures easy access to files, photos, videos, and music as well as smooth sharing between all computers as well as for friends and family with the mobile apps Personal Cloud and Iomega Link. The feature-rich drive has an integrated UPnP AV Media Server (DLNA-certified) and iTunes Server for smooth sharing between computers and digital media adapters, e.g. gaming consoles, digital picture frames or networked TVs. Automatic publishing of files in your Facebook, YouTube and Flickr accounts as well as use of active folders for the creation of personalized slide shows and for sending e-mails. It includes Time Machine and Torrent support and is available with capacities of 1 TB, 2 TB, and 3 TB.

Iomega® StorCenter PX Server Class Series

EZ Media

Another focus of Iomega’s trade show presence are the high end StorCenter network storage units of the PX Server Class Series with a new firmware update of the EMC LifeLine management software that includes a number of improvements. Among these are new features such as configuration acquisition and recovery. It enables users to create a configuration and then transfer it to other Iomega StorCenter devices of the same hardware type. Generally, the new update also offers a higher degree of data protection on non-operating hard disks by means of encrypted file systems.

Effective immediately, the PX Series with Server Class hard disks is offered for particularly demanding areas of application as a better, faster and even more reliable solution. The StorCenter devices are available in different capacities up to 36 TB as well as a diskless option, so that the storage capacity can be matched to corporate growth at any time. They offer cross-platform file support for PC, Mac and Linux, either as a compact desktop unit or in a rack-mount format. The devices are supported by Intel Atom or Celeron processors, respectively. In addition, three cost-effective storage and management solutions for video surveillance with support for up to 48 cameras per unit are included.

SMBs, remote offices and corporate subsidiaries can benefit from the optional SSD drives and the advanced backup functions such as different RAID levels with hot swap drives. The PX Series offers integrated data protection through RAID technology and UPS support and is equipped with RSA BSAFE encryption for protection during installations and upgrades, print sharing as well as USB-based HDD extension. It also supports UPS (uninterruptible power supply), user quotas and backup between devices. Moreover, it is certified for most virtualization environments such as VMware, Citrix, and Windows Server.

Iomega® StorCenter Video Surveillance solutions

StorCenter ix2

Iomega’s versatile StorCenter family of network storage devices offers three flexible solutions for the storage and management of video surveillance data that cover a wide variety of requirements in small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) as well as in corporations with geographically distributed sites. As a leading global supplier of innovative storage solutions, Iomega has a matching storage solution for video surveillance data solution in every case. Therefore, small businesses, corporations with distributed sites or also home office users who are looking for the right platform for storing, protecting, sharing and displaying audio and video files from security systems will successful with Iomega in finding what they need.

Iomega’s Surveillance Storage Target (SST) solution is simply made up of a StorCenter network storage device that can be used with IP camera models and VMS solutions such as Genetec and Verint. Every VMS application or IP camera that writes data into the network storage using the NFS (Network File System), CIFS (Common Internet File System) or iSCSI (Internet Small Computer System Interconnect) protocol is able to save video data on the Iomega devices of the StorCenter ix and px Series. This is a perfect solution for large corporations that have already video surveillance systems installed but are now required to expand their capacity due to increased data volumes or new regulations.

For SMBs and corporations with distributed sites, Iomega’s integrated video management system (IVMS) offers capacity and compatibility at the same time. Organizations looking for an integrated video management system with maximum performance will be perfectly served with an Iomega IVMS solution that is a combination of StorCenter and the respective camera model as well as the VMS application used by the company.

Iomega’s HVSS (Hosted Video Surveillance Solution) does not require installation on a local server. Therefore, this solution is a perfect match for SMBs and corporations with distributed sites where the local IT resources are limited. The StorCenter devices are compatible with the Axis IP cameras. The jointly developed AVHS (Axis Video Hosting System) client software is already preinstalled on the StorCenter at the time of delivery.

Next-generation Iomega® StorCenter ix2

StorCenter ix2

The new generation of the Iomega StorCenter ix2, which had already been announced at the beginning of the year and whose presentation in Hanover will be another premiere for Germany in addition to the EZ Media & Backup Center, offers a storage capacity of up to 6 TB for networks in small and medium-sized businesses or subsidiaries using PCs, Mac or Linux computers. The StorCenter ix2 system offers advanced features for business requirements that are usually unavailable for smaller organizational units, such as the working video surveillance functionality for installations of up to five IP cameras.

Designed for centralized storage and backup of business data, the compact double drive StorCenter ix2 system can be put into operation quickly and easily. Depending on the configuration – the solution is available as diskless, partially equipped or fully equipped versions – the StorCenter ix2 offers a variety of functions for use in business environments. These include e.g. that users can select their preferred backup solution in the cloud from Mozy, Amazon S3 and EMC Atmos-capable cloud backup services that are offered by service providers.
